1 killed, 3 injured in multi-vehicle crash

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – One person was killed and three others were injured Thursday in a multiple-vehicle crash at the intersection of Floyd Thompson Drive and Commander Shepard Boulevard near NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton Police said.

Police said that a passenger in the vehicle died at the scene, the driver of the vehicle was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, and another passenger in the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle also suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

A call came in for a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Commander Shepard Boulevard and Floyd Thompson Avenue; officers arrived at the scene to find a vehicle with three occupants and a second vehicle with a single driver.

According to police, a preliminary investigation indicated the victim’s vehicle was traveling northbound on Commander Shepard Boulevard and attempted to turn left onto Floyd Thompson Drive when another vehicle traveling southbound on Commander Shepard Boulevard struck the victim’s vehicle at the intersection.

Hampton Police’s Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.
