“When you announced you were leaving the United States, you said you could return because ‘it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights in America.’ Does this mean you will return when Trump leaves office, likely in January 2029 — or does this depend on who wins the election in 2028?” Tapper asked.

O’Donnell pointed to an incident earlier this week in which Trump referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as “Putin” at this week’s NATO summit in Ankara, Türkiye.

“So he called Zelenskyy ‘Putin,'” O’Donnell added. “He makes the kind of mistakes at Thanksgiving dinner that you can forgive, but you would never let your grandfather carve the turkey because it could be dangerous because he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”
