A “repeat offender” coyote was captured and euthanized after he was caught on camera trying to bite and drag a four-year-old boy standing in his grandparents’ driveway in Southern California earlier this week.

Four-year-old Solomon suffered seven puncture wounds to his legs and torso after the coyote bite and tried to drag the young boy away, heart-stopping video captured on security camera showed.

“I just hear him screaming, I turn around and I scream at the same time because I see the coyote on him,” Solomon’s mother, Sarina Donohoo, told FOX 11 Los Angeles.

“He bit me,” Solomon said. “He tried to drag me.”

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife believes the animal may be responsible for more attacks than initially believed, FOX 11 Los Angeles reported. The coyote is thought to be a “repeat offender” and the animal has been linked to two other victims who reported attacks on March 26 and March 30. DNA testing shows the coyote has been linked to a separate attack on a child near an elementary school on Feb. 11, according to FOX 11.

Wildlife officials confirmed with FOX 11 on Thursday that the coyote was “humanely euthanized” following “standard protocol” for animals that attack humans.

“It’s like the scariest thing in the world when a wild animal comes into your yard and tries to grab your grandchild,” added Stephanie Fields, Solomon’s grandmother and property owner.

The horrific incident took place in the early hours of the morning, just before 9am, while his mother was unloading food from the vehicle.

Recalling the chilling incident, Sarina said: “I was very scared because I knew how bad it could be.” “My first reaction was that I just had to push it away.”

Grandpa Stanley Fields shared that little Solomon is currently undergoing a series of rabies treatments.

He’s been bitten three times and is now going through the rabies protocol,” Stanley said. “He’s four years old and I think that’s a little bit too much for a little kid.”

A neighbor who runs a day care nearby told FOX 11 he now carries an air horn and golf club to protect the area.

While officials are confirming whether any other aggressive coyotes remain in the area, officials urged residents to “stay alert,” according to FOX 11.

Other recommendations for residents include supervising young children, especially outdoors, and using loud sounds, such as air horns, to deter wild animals. Citizens are also asked to secure food waste and trash cans.

Authorities encourage witnesses to call the Carson Sheriff’s Station at 310-830-1123 for coyote attacks or California Fish & Wildlife at 858-467-4257 for coyote sightings.
