230 kg of gutkha seized, two held in Villupuram

Police seized 230 kg of gutkha and banned tobacco products smuggled in a car at Janakipuram near Villupuram on Sunday and arrested two persons.

Following a tip-off, a team stopped a car heading to Puducherry from Bengaluru while conducting vehicle checks on the Janakipuram ring road. After a search, police teams found and seized 230 kilos of gutkha packed in sacks in the vehicle.

The team arrested 28-year-old Mahesh Kumar from Rajasthan and 36-year-old Bharath from Bengaluru. A case was registered.
