2nd Spl Sanitation Drive To Begin Today

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will carry out a special cleanliness drive covering 300 wards across the city every day from February 3 to 28, with the aim of ensuring comprehensive cleanliness and eliminating garbage vulnerable points (GVPs). This is the second ride and the first ride that has finished recently. Some cleaning work continues.
According to officials, the project will focus on eliminating legacy waste, municipal solid waste, construction and demolition (C&D) of debris, green waste, and residual waste from engineering and urban biodiversity studies.
Cleaning work will start at 06.30 every day and will be carried out gradually. Duties include cleaning pedestrian bridges, overpasses, roadsides, medians, lakes, nalas, footpaths, parks and slum areas, as well as removing waste accumulated near electrical transformers and poles.
As part of the programme, GHMC will also clear long-pending old waste, conduct special debris removal operations with vehicles and transform selected GVPs into public-friendly spaces through murals, plantations and aesthetic improvements.
