3 TMC Candidates Get ED Summons

Kolkata: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned three Trinamul Congress MLAs, who also contested the West Bengal Assembly Elections this time, for questioning in separate cases during the poll campaigns. Two of them are cabinet colleagues of chief minister Mamata Banerjee.
They were summoned in connection with the city’s employment scam. One of them is state fire and emergency services minister Sujit Bose, who is fighting in Bidhannagar. He was asked to report to the emergency office at the Salt Lake CGO complex on April 6.
Another state minister, Rathin Ghosh, who holds the food and supplies portfolio, has been asked to visit here on April 9. He is the TMC candidate from Barasat in North 24 Parganas. The third TMC MLA is Debashis Kumar, who is seeking re-election from Rasbehari in South Kolkata.
He arrived at the emergency room on Friday for the second time in a week in connection with a land grab case and faced five hours of interrogation. Mr. Kumar, who is also a TMC councilor and Mayoral Member in Kolkata Municipal Corporation, visited the central agency on March 30.
TMC spokesperson Arup Chakraborty alleged that the BJP brought another ally ED under its umbrella to expose its political vendetta in the midst of polls but their tricks may not succeed this time.
