Delhi HC protects Hrithik Roshan’s personality rights, directs removal of ‘objectionable posts’ on social media

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, protected the personality and publicity rights of Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan and directed the removal of some objectionable posts against him on social media.

Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora said that no ex parte direction has been passed during the interim phase to remove certain fan pages and an order will be passed after hearing these pages.

The court, which brought the matter to hearing again on March 27, 2026, said that it would later issue a detailed interim injunction.

The court was hearing a plea from Mr Roshan seeking to protect his personal rights and prevent online platforms from illegally using his name, images and inappropriate AI-generated content.

Recently, Bollywood actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, her husband Abhishek Bachchan, filmmaker Karan Johar, Telugu actor Akkineni Nagarjuna, “Art of Living” founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and journalist Sudhir Chaudhary also approached the high court seeking protection of their personalities and publicity rights, and the court granted them interim relief. gave.

Singer Kumar Sanu’s similar plea is pending in the Supreme Court.

The right of publicity, popularly known as personality rights, is the right to protect, control and profit from one’s image, name or likeness.
