5 Lakh Families To Get Keys By Next Ugadi

: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has set an ambitious target of constructing more than 17 lakh houses in the next three years as part of the state’s flagship Housing for All programme.

“Building on a track record of completing and delivering over 3 lakh houses so far, the government aims to speed up construction with mass housewarming ceremonies every three months,” the CM said.

At a review meeting held at the state secretariat on Friday, the CM directed Tidco officials and the housing department to take immediate action to achieve these targets.

“We promised housing to everyone in the elections and more than 3 lakh houses have already been delivered. This must accelerate. We must set targets now to complete the program by January 2029. Of the 20 lakh houses planned since the current government came to power, more than 3 lakh houses have been completed and opened. The remaining 17 lakh houses need to be completed in the next three years, with mass housewarming events every three months.”

5 lakh beneficiaries need to get house keys by next Ugadi,” the Chief Minister said.

Emphasizing accountability, Naidu said, “The Housing for All scheme should be taken seriously by everyone. I will hold reviews with all senior officials and employees of Tidco and the housing department.”

He emphasized the importance of completing the existing survey to identify eligible beneficiaries, including those who have not yet registered. He said that in order to ensure satisfaction, beneficiary lists should be prepared on a village basis and presented to the public in a transparent manner.

Naidu asked the officials to immediately allocate land to those seeking land and issue ownership certificates to those who already own land.

“All updates on housing construction should be available online. National programs supporting joint families should also be encouraged in house construction. Additional disbursements are being made for SC, ST, BC and PVTG communities in the PMAY 1.0 programme. Now an extra Rs 50,000 will be provided for Muslim minorities. This requires Rs 90 billion for 18,000 beneficiaries. These benefits should be well communicated to every social group,” Naidu said.

The CM also raised the issue of pending bills related to NTR Rural Housing Scheme and NREGA works during 2014-19. “The previous government had blocked bills amounting to around Rs 920 billion for the NTR Rural Housing scheme. Coordinate with the central government to clear these pending bills. Similarly, the previous NREGA bills were stalled by the last government but these have now been queued for payment.”

“Take similar steps for pending bills from NTR Rural Housing Scheme,” Naidu told officials.
