washington: US television news anchor Savannah Guthrie said in a new video message that her family is willing to pay to ensure the return of her mother after she was allegedly kidnapped in Arizona.
Law enforcement officials concluded that 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie was kidnapped, but the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said it has not yet identified any suspect or person of interest in the case.
In a post published on Instagram on Saturday (Sunday AEDT), Savannah Guthrie pleaded for their mother’s return, flanked by her brother and sister.
“This is the only way we’re going to have peace,” said Guthrie, co-anchor of NBC’s morning news program. Today “This is very valuable to us and we will pay for it.”
The FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said Friday that investigators are reviewing a newly revealed text message related to the case.
Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31 near Tucson, Arizona, being dropped off at her home after having dinner with family members. Relatives reported her missing around noon the next day, according to authorities.
He was described by Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos as being frail and with extremely limited mobility. Nanos said he could not leave his home without help.
The FBI on Thursday offered a $50,000 ($71,000) reward for information leading to the recovery of Nancy Guthrie or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.
On Friday, US President Donald Trump suggested a resolution to the case was nearing, saying, “I think some answers could emerge fairly soon.”
