Israel-Hamas Truce Talks Continue In Qatar Ahead Of Netanyahu-Trump Meet | World News

Israel and Hamas started the second day of indirect talks in Qatar on Monday, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Washington aim to provide a ceasefire and prisoners before an important meeting between US President Donald Trump in DC.

The latest negotiations started at Doha on Sunday and the mediators worked for the ceasefire, and the release of prisoners in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. US President Trump said this week an agreement could be reached.

Before going to the United States on Sunday, Netanyahu said that Israel negotiators were given open instructions to obtain ceasefire under the conditions accepted by Israel. “We have taken most of the hostages out, but a few of them will come out about the remaining hostages.”

During the October 2023 attack, 49 of the 251 prisoners received by Palestinian fighters remained in Gaza, including 27 people who said the Israeli army had died.

Netanyahu had previously rejected Hamas’s reaction to a US -backed ceasefire proposal and described his demands as “unacceptable”. The draft agreement, which was transferred through Qatar and Egyptian mediators, summarizes a 60 -day ceasefire, a gradual version of the prisoners, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza regions and the discussions of ending the war completely.

According to Al Jazeera’s Nour Odeh, the Trump-Netanyahu meeting, which reports from Jordan due to the prohibition of Israel’s network in Israel and the occupied West Bank in the West Bank, is positioned as a “very important meeting” for Israel’s wider regional agents. “Netanyahu seems to oppose Trump’s wishes,” he said.

“There are disputes in the Israeli cabinet that it will be difficult to be adopted, especially in re -deployment and food aid distribution,” Odeh said.

The White House is expected to meet Netanyahu on Monday (22:30 GMT) on Monday.

Armistice talks come to Iran after 12 days of Israel and US air strikes last month. Past efforts for a ceasefire have repeatedly failed because Israel rejected Hamas’s demand for a permanent ceasefire in exchange for release all prisoners.

Al Jazeera reported that the main adhesion point remained as the insistence of Hamas at the end of the war, while Israel argues that it will continue military operations until Hamas was dismantled.

Some of Netanyahu’s Hardline coalition partners expressed their opposition to end the war. However, the public in Israel is expected to support the cease -fire agreement with the exhaust of the 21 -month war.

Since the October 2023 attack of Hamas and the next Israeli military campaign, two temporary Truces have been taken with Palestinian prisoners.

According to Gaza health authorities, the conflict had destructive consequences for Gaza, more than 57,500 Palestinians have been killed, almost entire population was displaced and widespread destruction.
