US lawmakers intensify push against H-1B visas—is 2026 its death knell?

Crane first requested that the issuance of H-1B visas be halted for three years from the date of this law’s enactment. and sought to reduce their maximum annual limit from 85,000 to 25,000, adding that such visas would be awarded to employees offered the highest salaries rather than the current lottery system that selects H-1B beneficiaries. The proposal also stated that visa holders would need to earn more than $200,000 a year and would not be allowed to bring their families to the United States.
