7 Injured in Bike Collision While Following TVK Vijay’s Convoy

Thoothukudi: Seven members of the Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) party were injured when their two-wheelers collided while following the convoy behind party leader Vijay’s campaign vehicle on the highway on Wednesday.

Actor-turned-politician TVK chief Vijay had arrived at Thoothukudi Airport from Chennai to attend a public rally and campaign in support of the party’s candidates in Nellai and Thoothukudi districts. More than a hundred TVK volunteers on two-wheelers closely followed his convoy as it moved on the Thoothukudi-Nellai four-lane highway.

When the convoy reached near Vagaikulam in Thoothukudi, one two-wheeler collided with another, causing the drivers to lose control and fall to the ground. As a result of the collision, more than five two-wheelers following behind also crashed, causing injuries to TVK volunteers. It was stated that 5 people were injured in the incident.

Thoothukudi Rural DSP Sudheer is currently conducting an investigation into the matter.

This is the second incident where fans of the actor were reportedly injured in bicycle accidents while following convoy vehicles. Last month (March 4, 2026), two young people following the Vijay convoy in Thanjavur district were injured when they crashed into a police vehicle moving in front of them on a bicycle. The injured were identified as P Vignesh (19) and his friend Arun from Keelakalkandarkottai in Tiruchy. While Arun recovered, Vighnesh succumbed to his injuries on March 26. The actor, who has a huge fan base in Tamil Nadu, is often attacked by fans and party cadres when he goes to venues as part of his campaign, with hundreds of fans following his convoy.
