74 km link road to connect Ganga-Yamuna expressway, to boost connectivity in THESE areas; Check details

The 74.3 km Ganga-Yamuna Link Expressway in Greater Noida is progressing at a faster pace and land acquisition will begin in January. Built at a cost of Rs 4,000 billion, this facility will increase connectivity to Noida Airport, Delhi, Agra, Meerut and major highways in Uttar Pradesh.

The construction of a dedicated link highway connecting the Ganga Expressway to the Yamuna Expressway has moved into a faster implementation phase. This ambitious infrastructure project is expected to transform road connectivity in western Uttar Pradesh while enhancing access to the upcoming Noida International Airport.

Project Overview and Duration

The proposed link highway will stretch 74.3 kilometers and create a direct corridor between the two most important highways of Uttar Pradesh. The project will be developed by the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) and land acquisition responsibilities in the Yamuna Expressway area lie with the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).

Route Alignment and Important Locations

The expressway will start near Syana in Bulandshahr district, near the 44.3 kilometer mark of Ganga Expressway, and connect to the 24.8 kilometer mark of Yamuna Expressway near Sector 21, Film City, Greater Noida. Approximately 20 kilometers of the route will pass through the YEIDA area, and approximately 9 kilometers of it will be constructed as an elevated road to ensure easy traffic movement in densely developed areas.

Land Acquisition Plan and Cost

To facilitate construction, around 740 acres of land will be acquired from 16 villages in YEIDA district and the estimated cost will be ₹ 1,200 crore. Overall, the highway will pass through land belonging to 56 villages, including 8 villages in Gautam Buddh Nagar and 48 villages in Bulandshahr. The total investment of the project is expected to be around ₹ 4,000 crore. Officials confirmed that land surveys have been completed and the purchase will begin in January.

Improved Connectivity for Villages

In addition to the main highway, service roads will also be built along the highway. These roads will provide better local connectivity for nearby villages, allowing residents to have easier access to markets, industrial areas and city centers without relying solely on the high-speed corridor.

Support for Regional and National Travel

Once operational, the link highway will significantly reduce travel time between Delhi, Agra, Meerut, Prayagraj and Mumbai. It will offer direct access to Noida International Airport, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and key industrial sectors of Yamuna City (Sectors 28, 29, 32 and 33). The integration will also increase the overall importance and usability of the Ganga Expressway.

Official Approval

Confirming the development, YEIDA CEO RK Singh stated that the survey process has been completed and land acquisition will begin soon. Following the acquisition, the land will be handed over to UPEIDA for construction, paving the way for one of the upcoming major highway links in Uttar Pradesh.
