Eight coaches of a freight train derailed in Bihar’s Jamui district, disrupting railway services on the Howrah-Patna-Delhi route, officials said.
They said there has been no loss of life so far.
The accident occurred at around 23.25 on Saturday between Lahabon and Simultala railway stations of the Asansol section of the Eastern Railways. This disrupted the movement of around two dozen trains throughout the night, causing inconvenience to passengers.
Accident relief trains from Asansol, Madhupur and Jhajha stations were sent to the scene, officials said, adding that restoration work was ongoing.
