990 Booked In Weekend Drunk Driving Crackdown Across Tri-Commissionerates

Reiterating its zero-tolerance approach towards drunk driving, Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri traffic police penalized a total of 990 drivers for drunk driving during special weekend enforcement drives. Many drivers were found to have blood alcohol concentrations exceeding 300 mg/100 ml.
Hyderabad traffic police recorded the highest number of cases by booking 394 drivers during the two-day drive on June 26 and 27. The violators included 326 two-wheeler drivers, 30 three-wheeler drivers and 38 four-wheeler drivers and other vehicle drivers.
Cyberabad traffic police arrested 300 criminals, including 259 two-wheeler drivers, six three-wheeler drivers, 34 four-wheeler drivers and one heavy vehicle driver.
Malkajgiri traffic police penalized 296 drivers during its week-long special drive from June 21 to 27. The offenders included 249 two-wheeler drivers, 14 three-wheeler drivers, 32 four-wheeler drivers and one heavy vehicle driver.
Traffic officials said all the culprits will be produced before the relevant courts. Authorities also warned that drivers who drive under the influence of alcohol and cause fatal road accidents will be punished under section 105 of the BNS on culpable homicide not amounting to murder, which will result in a maximum imprisonment of 10 years along with a fine.
Traffic police stated that special inspections will continue across the three commissariats to increase road safety and called on drivers not to drive drunk.
Traffic Home Guard tasked for stalking and threatening woman with private photos
A 32-year-old traffic Home Guard officer attached to Chikkadpally traffic police station has been accused by the Chaitanyapuri police of stalking a woman and threatening to leak her private photos after they ended their relationship.
The accused, identified as Venkatesh, is married and was allegedly having an extra-marital affair with the complainant for some time. According to the woman’s complaint, she recently decided to end her relationship, after which Venkatesh allegedly got angry and started harassing her.
Police said the accused threatened to release private photos and videos of the complainant if she refused to continue the relationship. The woman claimed the man repeatedly intimidated and followed her, forcing her to contact the police for protection.
Based on the complaint, Chaitanyapuri police registered a case against Venkatesh under sections related to criminal intimidation and stalking. Police are also investigating allegations of misuse of the complainant’s private photographs.
The police launched an investigation and the suspect’s interrogation continues within the scope of the investigation.
2 people died and 6 people were injured in an accident involving three vehicles
Two people were killed and six others injured in a three-vehicle collision on National Highway-65 at Gundrampally in Chityal mandal of Nalgonda district on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Kasireddy Devender Reddy (55) and Depa Saritha (50); both are residents of Akkenapally village in Narketpally Mandal.
According to police, the accident took place when the tire of the SUV traveling from Hyderabad to Vijayawada burst. The car, whose driver lost control of the steering wheel, went onto the median and overturned onto the opposite road.
Two cars heading towards Hyderabad then collided with the vehicle, which overturned.
The injured were taken to Choutuppal Government Hospital for treatment. Devender Reddy and Saritha, who were traveling in the SUV, died due to their injuries while being treated.
The accident caused traffic congestion on NH-65 towards Hyderabad for around five kilometres.
Chityal police arrived at the scene, cleaned the damaged vehicles and restored traffic after a short disruption.
1 person died and 2 people were injured as a result of the collision between a truck and a car
On Sunday, a Secondary School student died and two others were injured when the car they were traveling in crashed into a stationary truck near Srirampur GM Office at Indaram Junction in Mancherial district.
Police said that the speeding car crashed into a parked truck and the vehicle was severely damaged.
While Sai Susheel died on the spot, passersby rescued the two injured people and took them to a government hospital.
The victims are natives of Luxettipet and currently residing in Mancherial. The deceased’s parents are teachers.
