This means that most of the daily use products such as food products, drugs and soaps will now be more affordable.”
According to him, reforms will adapt to enterprises, increase transparency and allow the benefits of decreasing tax rates to ordinary citizens.
The Prime Ministry (PMO) announced that Modi would appeal to the country at 17:00 on Sunday without explaining the subject of the speech. The announcement came on the eve of navratri when the revised GST rates will enter into force.
Over the years, Modi has used national addresses to make significant announcements such as 2016 demonetization movement, India’s anti-Satellite missile test in 2019 and government measures during the COVID-19 crisis.
Since its promotion in 2017, the announcement of the Sunday has been seen as one of the most important revisions in the GST system, and the government states that reforms will increase compliance, reduce disagreements and strengthen India’s indirect tax framework.
