Mourners farewell Cobblestone stabbing victim Chol Chuti Achiek at Sunbury Anglican church

He was very young.

The church remained silent while moving to the altar by their loved ones. The only sound that could be heard in the packaged room was the silent cry of a family member.

The pre-teen child, who was born on April 14, 2013, was reflected on the walls of the church, and had memories that chronic his happy, energetic life. He jumped on a local pool, jumping on a trampoline, dancing in a crowd of friends, posing a Chicago Bulls jersey.

As a child who started to walk, Chol had a crooked grin on the camera, wearing a large suit. Years later, it was the same smile where Chol was photographed in the new basketball uniform and the South Sudan flag was pulled alive with the colors of the flag: black, blue, red, yellow and green.

Service, South Sudan, Chol’s legacy and his father’s homeland customs watched. Those who mourned the Sudan language in Dinka said hymns. Many of them wore white, mourning in the African country. Some family and friends wore white t -shirts depicting Chol as an angel.

He was assigned by the clergy of the Anglican Church, which directs the monuments, prayers and Bible verses. In their tribute, Chol’s sisters referred to the strong Christian faith of his brothers. His favorite Bible verse was Luke 18: 1, a passage that shared the importance of determination.

Chol, the youngest of seven brothers, was a natural leader who dreamed of being a professional basketball player.

Chol found his love for sports when he joined Nil Warriors, a newly established team in Melton, founded by the volunteers of the South Sudan community who wanted to support children.

Nil Warriors Vice President Foot Kuany gave his whole heart to the game. “Chol wasn’t just a player on our team, it was a family. You could feel the difference when entering the room.

“He reminded us of what it is like to play for joy, to come with the heart and to treat people with kindness.”

Apart from the church, Chol’s classmates and friends cried in their mother’s arms while watching that his coffin was removed to a funeral.

While the Victorians enjoy the long weekend festivals, those who gathered around the funeral, Melbourne’s 12 -year -old sons, who are believed to be the youngest victim of the youth crime crisis, remained with the destructive loss of his brother, friend and teammate.

A little longer than three weeks ago, Chol and his friend 15 -year -old Dau Akeung died in a ambush just before 20 o’clock and died within 150 meters after each other. The police attended the scene as one of the worst knife crimes they witnessed.

A little hope for Chol’s father is that someone can now be held responsible for his son’s death. 19 -year -old Caroline Springs man, an 18 -year -old Wollert man and a 16 -year -old boy was accused of murder last Friday.

Chol’s body was thrown to rest at Maddingley Cemetery, surrounded by dozens of family and friends.
