UK population sees second largest annual rise in 75 years fuelled by spiralling migration

According to new forecasts, the population of England increased by June 2024, more than three quarters of a year, according to new forecasts, the largest annual increase over 75 years.
Boom has been fueled by increasing international migration to England, and births and deaths are only a small part of the change.
According to the National Statistics Office (Ones), 68.254 (1.1 percent) (1.1 percent) increased by 68.254 (1.1 percent) in the middle of 2024 was estimated to be in the UK.
When comparable data began, at least since 1949, the second largest numerical leap behind 890,049, which took place in the previous 12 months from the middle of 2023 to the middle of 2023.

Until 2024, the number of births in the UK for at least 42 years was the lowest. The population grew in the UK with a growth of 1.2 percent compared to Scotland (0.7 percent), Wales (0.6 percent) and Northern Ireland (0.4 percent).
During this period, Wales and Scotland had more deaths than births.
NET International Migration – The difference between people who moved and separated to the country – made 98 percent of the total increase in the population.

Nigel Henretty from Ones said: “The British population has increased every year since the mid -1982.
“The population growth rate has been higher in recent years and the increase seen in the mid -2014 has been represented the second largest increase in numerical terms for more than 75 years.
“Net international migration continues to be the main driving force of this growth by continuing the long -term tendency seen since the beginning of the century.”
This is a developing story …
