Former aide to far-right German politician jailed for spying for China

A leading member of Germany’s far -right AfD party was sentenced to four years nine months in prison for espionage for China.

Jian Guo worked for Maximilian Krah, a member of the European Parliament for five years in Brussels until last year. Kraha is now a deputy in the German Parliament.

The court in Dresden in East Germany had heard how the former deputy of Krah collected information to Chinese authorities between 2019-2024 and conveyed secret documents.

Jian Guo insisted that he had not worked for Chinese intelligence, and he kept his innocence, and Krah told the court that he had learned allegations from the media only against his former employee last month.
