2 Killed and 3 Injured in Shootings at Shopping Center North of Dallas, Police Say

CARROLLTON, Texas: A Texas man shot five people, killing two of them, after meeting at a mall north of Dallas on Tuesday, police said.
Carrollton Police Chief Roberto Arredondo said this was not a random act of violence and that the gunman knew the victims.
“This was a known business relationship. We are still trying to determine the reasons,” Arredondo said.
After a short foot chase, the suspect, 69-year-old Seung Han Ho, was arrested at a convenience store about 6 kilometers away, police said. It was not immediately known whether he had a lawyer who could speak on his behalf.
Police were at a nearby apartment complex where Ho had recently been reported to have lived. Neighbors said they did not recognize that name.
Shortly after the shooting, police officers walked past the doors of K Towne Plaza in the area of Carrollton known as Koreatown, guns drawn. Agents from the FBI and another federal agency were among law enforcement at the scene.
Carrollton, population 130,000, is 20 miles (32 kilometers) north of Dallas. More than 4,000 residents are of Korean descent, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Over the past 20 years, thanks to Korean investors, Dallas has transformed into a thriving Koreatown for the metro area. It’s home to department stores like H Mart, as well as dozens of restaurants serving everything from Korean fried chicken to shaved ice desserts.
The city is also home to numerous Korean churches, from Baptist to Presbyterian.
