Each award is given by a specific institution determined by Alfred Nobel:
- Karolinska Institutet Awards Physiology or Medicine
- Royal Swedish Sciences Academy Awards Physics, Chemistry and Economic Sciences
- Swedish Academy Awards Literature
- Norway Nobel Committee Peace Award Awards
The Riksbank Prize for Economic Sciences was introduced in 1968 in memory of Alfred Nobel and was elected by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
How to choose the winners
Thousands of candidates, including university professors, scientists, previous Nobel Prizers, Members of Academies and Parliamentary Assemblies, propose candidates every year. The Nobel Committees of the award institutions review these nominations and decide the winners. Candidates are selected to provide various representations between countries and universities over time.
