Who’s who in the Royal Box at Wimbledon on Day Three? Rory McIlroy leads golf brigade as Richard E. Grant and Games of Thrones actor Charles Dance bring the star power

The Royal Box at Wimbledon had a distinctly sporty vibe today as some of the world’s best golfers, led by Rory McIlroy, set foot in SW19 today.

The best seats in the hall, reserved for VIP tennis fans from the world of sport, showbiz and society, welcomed the Northern Irishman, who made a grand entrance with his wife Erica Stoll after his historic Masters win two months ago.

He was joined by British professional golfers Luke Donald, Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood.

Richard E. Grant increased his star power even more when he was accompanied by Game of Thrones actor Charles Dance and his daughter Olivia on their first postpartum outing.

The 69-year-old actor shared the happy news that he will become a new grandfather on June 5, five years after the death of his beloved wife Joan.

Among the VIPs at the lodge were tennis stars Martina Navratilova and Deborah Jevans. Read on to find out who’s who in the Royal Lodge on the third day of the championship…

1. Rory McIlroy and Erica Stoll

As Rory McIlroy led a legion of golf stars at Wimbledon on Wednesday, the Masters champion donned the famous green jacket he won on the greens of Augusta last year and again in April for the event. He paired his jacket with a crisp white shirt, green tie and classic sand-colored chinos.

The 37-year-old Irish champion golfer was accompanied by his wife Erica Stoll, who showed off a stylish body in her airy white midi dress, and the couple happily took photos before taking their seats in the Royal Box.

When McIlroy arrived at the box on Day Three of the All England Club, he waved to well-wishers before taking his seat in the front row of the box.

This is the third time the top golfer has been invited to the prestigious Royal Box, first in 2011 and then again in 2018 before today.

2. Richard E Grant and his daughter Olivia

Royal Box regular Richard E Grant joined his daughter Olivia today after welcoming his first child last month.

The 69-year-old actor, whose glittering career includes starring roles in Withnail and I and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, cut a dapper figure in a white suit as he arrived for a day’s tennis match on the third day of the Wimbledon Championships.

The star linked arms with Olivia, who opted for a stylish white jacket and pale blue flared trousers.

3. Martina Navratilova

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova has won a total of 59 Grand Slam titles, 31 in women’s doubles and 10 in mixed doubles.

The last one was a mixed doubles title with Bob Bryan at the 2006 US Open, a month shy of his 50th birthday.

The Czech-American former professional tennis player retired in 1994 after winning 167 singles titles and being No. 1 in the WTA rankings for 331 weeks.

In 2023, the sports icon revealed that he was told a few weeks before Wimbledon that he was cancer-free.

‘To all the doctors, nurses, proton and radiation wizards, etc. “Thank you, what a relief,” he wrote.

Martina, 66, also added the phrase ‘fucking cancer’ to the post. In January of that year, she announced that she had been diagnosed with throat cancer and breast cancer and would begin treatment that month.

4.Charles Dance

Master player Charles Dance, who has been seen at the Royal Box several times over the years, brought the starting power today.

Charles, who plays Tywin Lannister in HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones, looked stylish in his navy blue suit as he prepared to play tennis at Center Court in the afternoon.

5.Justin Rose

Justin Rose is an English professional golfer who first rose to fame by finishing fourth in the 1998 Open Championship as an amateur.

He turned pro the next day but struggled in his first few years as a pro, making several cuts.

He won the US Open in 2013 and was awarded an MBE in 2017; He said that this ‘will be a source of pride along with my other trophies’.

6.Luke Donald

48-year-old British professional golfer Luke Donald also went to Center Court today.

He took the top spot in the Official World Golf Rankings after winning the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Golf Club in Surrey in May 2011.

He was recognized in the England Golf Hall of Fame’s King’s Birthday Honors List as he received an OBE for his services to the sport.

7.Tommy Fleetwood

Tommy Fleetwood is an English professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour and European Tour. He won six times on the European Tour.

He attended the first Friday of Wimbledon with his wife Clare, who works as his manager.

The couple has been married since December 2017 and has three children.

8.Thomas Bjorn

Former Ryder Cup captain Thomas Bjorn was among today’s golfers in the Royal Box.

The 54-year-old professional golfer was joined by Grace Bjorn and the couple got married in 2023.

9 and 10. Edoardo and Francesco Molinari

The Molinari brothers were also in attendance, posing for photos with Rory, Tommy and the rest of the golf group.

Ryder Cup vice-captain Edoardo was accompanied by his wife Anna, while Francesco attended with his partner Valentina.

11. Deborah Jevans

British former tennis player Deborah Jevans CBE has made many appearances at the hallowed ground as a former Wimbledon junior champion.

She also played in women’s singles 10 times (between 1979 and 1983). Her best result was reaching the fourth round, where she lost to fifth-seeded Virginia Wade.

Miss Jevans also played in the doubles competition, reaching the quarter-finals of the mixed doubles competition in 1978, playing with her future husband and Wimbledon umpire Andrew Jarrett.

He became the first chairman of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club Board in 2023, succeeding Ian Hewitt.

In 2013, he was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the New Year Honours, for his services to sport and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and served as the event’s sports director.

12. Sir Keith and Lady Ajegbo

Sir Keith Ajegbo was knighted in 2007 after years of work in the education sector.

According to the website of Downing College Cambridge, of which Sir Keith is an honorary fellow, he raised the institution’s profile and established its reputation during his two decades as Head of Deptford Green School.

From 2006 to 2009 he was also a government advisor.

Sir Keith was also Chairman of the Stephen Lawrence Trust, a Trustee of the AELTC Charitable Trust.

He also captained the Cambridge University tennis team against Oxford in the 60s.

He attended with Lady Ajegbo.

13. Alison Brittany

The Premier League’s first female president, Alison Brittain, was also one of the day’s VIPs as she sat next to her husband Kevin.

14. Mark Precious

Another athlete sitting in one of the sought-after places in the Royal Box today was Mark Precious, a former student of University College, Oxford.

The former field hockey player won a bronze medal with the British team at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles.

15.Roy Colabawalla

Roy Colabawalla is Corporate Partner at Sydney Mitchell LLP and President of the Lawn Tennis Association.

Partner Sydney Mitchell was appointed the youngest president in the history of the Lawn Tennis Association earlier this year.
