Mayfield High School renovation upgrades set at $200 million
El Paso, Texas (KTSM) -LAS Cruces Public Schools, while protecting the heritage of the 61-year-old campus, Mayfield High School is moving with plans to renew.
The estimated cost of renovation of high school is 200 million dollars, the district contributes about 114 million dollars and the state contributes to $ 86 million.
If the upcoming school bond elections are successful, the school area says that the school area can allocate $ 20 million to start planning, design and early phase construction.
Inspector Ignacio Ruiz stressed that during the last week’s community update meeting, the Public Schools Facility Institution (PSFA) fund would be critical to bring the entire project forward.
Parents and staff at the meeting expressed their concerns about the already done work to start renovations. Ruiz said that all the work completed so far will be included in the new main plan.
Additional questions from parents contained concerns about a land study. The school regional administrators confirmed that the test is part of the required design and can start soon.
“Large -scale renovations are implemented gradually, while LCPs continue to address emergency care problems, including structural settlements, HVAC upgrades, accessibility improvements and advanced campus security in Mayfield.

The school area said that on November 4, the general obligation of $ 65 million in the ballot without a tax rate increase and the Mill Levy renewal.
“School bonds are a way to collect funds for the educational infrastructure projects of local governments. These funds are divided into projects that provide direct benefit to our schools, students and staff.”
