Germany arrests suspected Hamas members over alleged attack plot

Prosecutors, Palestinian armed group Hamas was arrested for allegedly planning to attack Israel and Jewish institutions, he said.

Three men, two of whom were German citizens and were born in Lebanon, are suspected of providing firearms and ammunition allegedly used in attacks since the summer.

The German media report was arrested when men came together for gun cycles in the capital.

According to Der Spiegel, police searches were made in Leipzig and Oberhausen cities during the Berlin arrests.

The three are accused of preparing a serious action of violence that endangers the German state and endangered a member of a foreign terrorist organization.

The Federal Prosecutor said the suspects would appear before a federal judge on Thursday.

Hamas said in a statement that the allegations against it were “unfounded” and “the German people aim to weaken their sympathy to the Palestinian people”.

The Group added that it is a policy of limiting its activities to what it thinks of Palestinian territory.

The arrests are accused of planning an attack on Jewish areas in Europe after the trial of four Hamas members in Berlin in February.
