Iran may release hundreds of thousands of Afghan refugees into Iraq and Turkey | Iran

Iran is planning to release hundreds of thousands of Afghan refugees on the western borders of Iraq and Türkiye. After the bombing of nuclear areas and the reorganization of the UN sanctions of Europe, the authorities will necessarily be part of what they define as a more aggressive and unpredictable strategy.
The versatile attack involves the expansion of the missile program, strengthening air defenses, suspending cooperation with the UN weapon inspector, and preventing the establishment of a UN committee to supervise the management of restructured sanctions on October 18th. Authorities continue to re -open talks with the US, believing that negotiations will fail.
In the threat of sending refugees to the West and the East, there are echoes of the warning given by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who threatened to send millions of Syrian refugees to Europe.
Iran had to meet about 6 million Afghan refugees from time to time, but the International Amnesty International said in 2025 that one million Afghan refugees were fled to Afghanistan due to poverty or the Taliban administration. Amnesty International, Israel’s leadership of Iran and the June 12 attacks on the nuclear areas of the mass deportation after the attacks claimed that the scaling. Since June, 500,000 Afghan predicted that it has been sent back from the border.
Until March 2025, several million Afghans were allowed to temporarily legalize their stay in Iran by receiving a “number of staff” certificates. Those given to this document may access limited services, including access to government health services, public education, business authority, banking access and the ability to enter rent agreements. However, the authorities invalidated these headcount documents.
Iranian authorities gave different figures about the number of Afghan refugees in the country, but at least 2 million are thought to be illegal in Iran. The UN Refugees High Commissioner estimated that up to 4 million Afghan could be sent back to Afghanistan this year.
In June, a wider repair and recovery program continues in Iran, including a debate about the arms it holds to protect itself after the US attacks in June. Iran remembered its ambassadors from France, Germany and the UK for consultations to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran. Authorities are partially important steps to end their cooperation with the UN Nuclear Weapon Inspector, as well as leaving the non -prevented treaty of nuclear weapons.
Iranian officials, in the UN General Assembly in talks with the French, arms inspectors offered to allow them to visit a bombed nuclear region in Natanz, and also offered to report a highly enriched uranium stock within 45 days. In contrast, Iran wanted the threat of the return of the UN sanctions to be permanently removed from the original French -led proposal instead of three months.
Iran claims that the United States claimed that some of the things that Tehran believe has become an increasingly irregular and non -professional diplomatic operation by Steve Witkoff, a man outside the cycle or a second man. For example, Witkoff sent Iran delegation to the UN details of a meeting that Iran plans to hold with diplomats, but completely scrapped the meeting.
In the next possible diplomatic conflict with the United States, Russia, which holds the returning president of the Security Council on October 18, is expected to use it as a permanent member to prevent the establishment of the UN committee to monitor and control the sanctions of the EU last week.
Russia and China told UN Secretary -General António Guterres that the European countries did not have the right to reclaim the sanctions as they did on September 28, because according to the European views, it was no longer involved in the nuclear agreement and did not consume the dispute resolution mechanism.
The collision is likely that some countries will not comply with the implementation of UN sanctions. Japan, Canada and Türkiye have already begun to re -imagine sanctions, but the countries of Russian and China will not do so. For example, the President of Türkiye, Erdoğan, issued a Presidential Decree on the order of freezing assets for Iranian individuals and Tehran’s nuclear program and organizations linked to large state banks.
Authorities, the most harmful sanctions on Iran are the current sanctions imposed by the United States, and the restored UN sanctions extending between 2006-10 are relatively narrow, because Iran does not cover the oil program, instead of certain existence freezing, weapon boundaries and prohibitions in missile trade.
However, Tehran acknowledges that even the partial return of UN sanctions has an effect on economic trust and exchange rate. The price of the dollar in Iran’s free market broke a new record.
