SPL Pulse Polio Drive In 6 Districts On OCT. 12

Hyderabad: As part of the nationwide initiative to boost immunity among children under five years of age, a special pulse polio vaccine drive will be conducted in six districts of Telangana on October 12. While India recorded its last polio case in 2011, Telangana’s last case was reported in 2007. However, the recent report of polio cases in countries like Bangladesh and Pakistan has led the Union health ministry to initiate a precautionary measure in areas where cross-border movements are frequent, according to a statement from the state’s health department.

As part of the initiative, 290 districts across the country, including six districts of Telangana such as Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medchal, Sangareddy and Hanumakonda, have been identified for special drive.

Additionally, urban areas of Warangal district will also be brought under special protection.
