Remove oven glass grease in 5 minutes using one natural item | UK | News

The oven is something you use every day, and while it allows you to put hot, delicious meals on the table, it also means that grease and grime can build up pretty quickly. There are some easy ways to prevent mess from spills by using oven liners and baking sheets, but unfortunately there’s not much you can do to prevent that sticky brown grease from forming throughout your oven and door. Fats and oils in food evaporate when exposed to heat, which then condense when cooled again, leaving a layer of oily residue on the glass door. If you do not clean your oven after use, more grease will accumulate every time you cook and it will be difficult to clean this grease.

But there is a natural solution that will rid your oven door of that nasty layer of dirt, and you won’t have to use a lot of elbow grease to remove it; This is good news if you haven’t cleaned your oven in a while. According to cleaning experts, a fresh lemon is all you need to get your oven looking sparkling and clean again, and it will have it smelling nice and fresh in as little as five minutes.

The citric acid in lemon juice helps dissolve and cut through grease easily and is ideal for cleaning glass as it does not leave unsightly marks or residue. It also has the added benefit of being chemical-free, eliminating the need for any artificial fragrances, leaving a sweet, fresh scent.

Oven Detailing says, “If your oven door glass is covered in smudges, grease, and fingerprints, you don’t need expensive chemical cleaners to fix it. Lemon juice is a natural, non-toxic cleaner that cuts through grease and leaves your oven door streak-free and smelling fresh.”

To clean the oven door, cut a lemon in half and rub it on the glass. Let it sit for about five minutes before wiping it off with a warm, damp cloth. If you don’t have fresh lemon, using about three tablespoons of lemon juice will also work.

If there is any dirt that won’t come off, you can try steam cleaning your oven with lemon to tackle particularly stubborn grease layers.

Oven Clean explains: “If you want to get rid of tough grease and dirt from the inside of your oven, try some steam cleaning.

“Fill an oven-proof bowl with water. Take a lemon or two (limes will also work), cut them in half and squeeze the juice into the bowl. Place the bowl in the oven. Close your oven door and turn on your oven.

“Be careful with the water and as soon as you see it start to boil, turn off the oven, leave it to cool with the lid closed while the steam circulates.

“This neat little trick will help dislodge some of the dirt and grease, giving you a head start on a quick and easier oven clean.”
