United Airlines‘ The 2026 summer international travel plan is out and smaller European cities are planned.
Starting April 30, United plans to fly from its hub at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey to Split on the Croatian coast, its second destination in the country. A day later, the carrier takes Newark to Bari, in the popular Puglia region of southern Italy on the Adriatic Sea.
On May 22, nonstop service is scheduled to begin from Newark to Santiago de Compostela, the end of the famous Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route in Spain’s Galicia region.
The additions mark United’s latest bet on high-spending travelers seeking trips beyond major European capitals and the chance to fly non-stop to those destinations without connecting to major hubs. Carrier competes Delta for big spending travelers. Many of the new routes are operated with aircraft equipped with the ever-growing, flat-top Polaris cabin.
United executives have long touted its extensive international network as a driver for customer loyalty and signing up for lucrative travel rewards credit cards.
Delta has followed a similar strategy, announcing last month that it would introduce new non-stop services to Malta and Italy’s Sardinia next summer.
United’s other additions include the first service to Reykjavik, Iceland, from its Washington Dulles International Airport hub on May 21, and a year-round daily nonstop flight from Newark to Seoul, South Korea, starting next September. Additionally, flights from Newark to Glasgow, Scotland will begin on May 8. Boeing’s 737 Maximum 8.
Patrick Quayle, United’s senior vice president of global network planning and alliances, said destinations the carrier announced last year, including Nuuk, Greenland, will remain on the airline’s 2026 schedule.
United also plans to add a third daily flight from Newark to Tel Aviv, Israel, starting March 28.
