Philadelphia residents should avoid the lottery whenever possible.

Three of the local sports teams were in action Thursday night, and at one point they were all playing at the same time. They all lost.

Arguably the most important game was the Phillies’ National League Series game against the Los Angeles Dodgers; A win here would see a decisive Game 5 return to the City of Brotherly Love on Saturday after trailing 2-0 in the series.

It took extra innings, but a brutal inning on poor decision-making by Orion Kerkering sent the Dodgers to the National League Championship Series, ending the Phillies’ season.

This occurred as the Eagles were trailing the New York Giants at halftime, but the G-Men took the lead with three field goals from rookie running back Cam Skattebo and won 34-17. It was the first time the Giants had won a game on Thursday night since 2015 and only the fourth time the Giants had defeated them in their last 22 games, including the playoffs.

In 1991, after the Phillies lost to the New York Mets and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won against the Birds, the Flyers saved the day by tying with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The only time they all won was October 19, 1980.

There has never been a day when all four teams (76ers) played on the same day.

At least the locals still have a Super Bowl championship to spend lavishly on, but the Eagles have lost two in a row and look nothing like last season.
