Father and son allegedly attacked by group of teens on Melbourne’s Southbank

Five teenagers have been arrested after a man and his son were allegedly stabbed following an argument in Melbourne’s busy Southbank district.

Emergency services were called to the Yarra Promenade shortly before 2am on Sunday following reports of a fight.

Police were told a 47-year-old man and his 23-year-old son were walking with other family members when they passed a group of teenagers and hit one of their group.

A brief verbal interaction took place before the youths allegedly “attacked” the couple, who were allegedly physically assaulted and stabbed.

The man and his son were taken to hospital with suspected non-life-threatening injuries.

Victoria Police said the teenagers were seen running from the scene but were arrested by officers a short time later.

The young people, aged between 14 and 17, are currently in custody and will be questioned by police.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have filmed the fight to come forward.
