Terrifying moment helicopter spins out of control and crashes on idyllic California beach, leaving five injured

Video footage from Huntington Beach, California, shows the terrifying moment a helicopter went out of control and crashed into a beachfront hotel on Saturday.
According to initial reports, the plane appeared to have suffered a ‘tail rotor failure’ before falling from the sky and crashing into the Hyatt Regency Hotel, crushing several palm trees outside.
Huntington Beach Police said the two people in the helicopter were safely removed from the wreckage, but their condition is not yet known.
According to authorities, three people on the street were also injured.
Five people were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. ABC7 reported.
Footage shared on social media showed the helicopter descending towards the street around 2pm, while onlookers were shocked as the helicopter suddenly crashed and crash-landed just meters away from the Pacific Coast Highway.

Video shared on the Citizen app shows a massive emergency response with many people gathered at the scene.
The Huntington Beach Fire Department confirmed a major response that saw multiple units deployed to the crash scene.
The exact cause of the crash is under investigation as authorities work to determine what caused the plane to malfunction.
