JSP Prashant Kishor visited the high-profile Raghopur constituency on Saturday to interact with people. Vaishali’s Raghopur constituency is of great importance for the RJD. RJD leader and former Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav has been winning this seat since 2015.
In this visit, Prashant Kishor is hinting at the possibility of contesting the upcoming Bihar elections from this RJD-dominated seat. ‘The election campaign will begin after all the tickets are announced,’ he said. I am going to Raghopur today; CM and Dy is a special field where CM is selected. I will go there to meet Jan Suraaj’s colleagues in that area and ask them: If the people of Raghopur are to be lifted out of poverty and underdevelopment, then who should contest the elections? Who will challenge Tejashwi? We will discuss this. A decision will be made tomorrow based on the feedback I get from there.’
PK warns Tejashwi Yadav
Prashant Kishor gave a stern warning to Tejashwi Yadav, saying that he will face the same fate in Raghopur as Rahul Gandhi in Amethi. ‘If I contest from Raghopur, Tejashwi Yadav will have to contest from two seats,’ he said. He will face the same situation that Rahul Gandhi faced in Amethi.” Rahul Gandhi lost to BJP’s Smriti Irani in the Congress stronghold Amethi constituency in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Raghopur constituency
Located in the state’s Vaishali district, Raghopur is a high-risk constituency that gives Bihar chief ministers and deputy chief ministers. It is the stronghold of the Yadav family. While Lalu Prasad Yadav has won here twice, his wife Rabri Devi has won the seat three times. Both served as Chief Minister while representing Raghopur. Their son Tejashwi Yadav also won the seat twice in 2015 and 2020 and served as Deputy Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition during his tenure.
There were significant electoral battles in the constituency between the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and primary parties such as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United).
JSP announced its first candidate list
Jan Suraaj Party Bhojpuri singer Ritesh Pandey released his first list of 51 candidates, giving tickets to former IPS officer RK Mishra and Jagriti Thakur, granddaughter of late socialist leader Karpoori Thakur. In the list, 11 belong to backward classes, 17 to extremely backward classes, 9 to minority communities and the rest to the general category.
The Bihar assembly elections, which will be held in two phases, will be held on November 6 and 11, and the votes will be counted on November 14.
