Driver’s lucky escape after van bursts into flame on Adelaide highway

A shopkeeper made a lucky escape after his work van burst into flames on a busy highway in Adelaide.
Several lanes were closed on the Anzac Highway near the South Road junction at Kurralta Park after a Volkswagen station wagon and a Toyota minibus collided at around 9am on Sunday.
Upon impact, the minibus rolled onto its side and immediately exploded, sending flames into the air as the occupants tried to escape.
The driver of the minibus, a 34-year-old resident of Kurralta Park, managed to escape by climbing through the window of the minibus while the vehicle was engulfed in flames.


He was not injured.
A 50-year-old man, a 46-year-old woman and a child traveling in the Volkswagen were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
