D’Angelo dead at 51: Grammy-winning soul music icon passes after cancer battle

Iconic soul singer D’Angelo has passed away at the age of 51.
The Grammy-winning star, known for hits such as Brown Sugar and Untitled (How Does It Feel), passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer, Daily Mail has confirmed.
The singer is survived by two sons and a daughter; The mother of his first son, Angie Stone, died tragically in a car accident in March of this year.
A representative for the artist released a statement to the Daily Mail that began: ‘It is with deep sadness and my heartfelt feelings that I confirm the passing of Michael D’Angelo Archer.
‘D’Angelo passed away earlier today, October 14, 2025, in New York. “He was 51 years old.”
The representative stated that an official statement regarding the singer’s death, as well as an announcement regarding memorial ceremonies, will be made in the coming days.

According to TMZ sources, the Grammy-winning star, known for hit songs such as Brown Sugar and Untitled (How Does It Feel), passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
They wrote: ‘This is a tremendous loss not only for his family and loved ones, but also for the millions of people around the world who were touched by his revolutionary art.
‘D’Angelo was a genius, a force of nature whose music changed the landscape of soul and R&B. More importantly, he was a much-loved son, brother and friend whose absence leaves an immeasurable void.’
The statement also stated that the family was in the beginning stages of ‘great grief’ and that they asked for their privacy to be respected during this difficult time.
D’Angelo has won four Grammys, including Best R&B Album for Voodoo in 2001 and Black Messiah in 2016.
The star also won Best R&B Song of 2016 for Really Love and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for his song Untitled (How Does It Feel).
