North Shore bridge closed indefinitely after recent inspection
Following a recent inspection, the North Shore bridge has been closed until further notice.
Inspectors found that the bridge carrying Route 107 over the Saugus River at Lynn and Saugus is in need of immediate repairs and the bridge is closed to all vehicle traffic indefinitely.
The following traffic diversions are available:

Northbound traffic on Route 107 (Salem Turnpike) will be detoured from the Route 107/Ballard Avenue intersection as follows:

Turn left onto Ballard Street.

Turn right onto Lincoln Avenue.

Continue onto Boston Street.

Turn right onto Summer Street.
-
Take Summer Street back to Route 107 (Western Avenue).

Southbound traffic on Route 107 (West Boulevard) will be directed as follows:

Turn right onto Summer Street.

Turn left onto Boston Street.
-
Continue onto Lincoln Boulevard.
-
Turn left onto Ballard Street.
-
From Ballard Avenue, return to Route 107 (Salem Turnpike).

“Appropriate signage, law enforcement details and advance message boards will be available to guide motorists through the work area,” Saugus police said. “Motorists traveling through affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed and use caution.”
MassDOT said the suspension bridge will remain operational for marine traffic and the sidewalks will remain open to pedestrians.
