Australian soldier dies after training accident in north Queensland | Australian military

One Australian soldier died and two others were injured in an accident that occurred during training in northern Queensland.

A defense spokesman said the soldier was fatally injured when his vehicle overturned during a training course at the Townsville Field Training Area near Townsville on Wednesday.

The Queensland ambulance service said paramedics treated three people at the single-vehicle scene on Hervey Range Road near Townsville on Wednesday evening.

“A male in his 30s was airlifted to the University of Townsville hospital in a stable condition with chest and abdominal injuries. A third patient, a male in his 20s, suffered back injuries and was transported by road to the University of Townsville hospital in a stable condition.”

Many ambulances and rescue helicopters were dispatched to the scene.

Defense minister and deputy prime minister Richard Marles expressed his condolences to the family of the dead soldier. social media post.

“My thoughts are with the family, friends, loved ones and colleagues of the Australian Army soldier who sadly died following a training incident near Townsville last night,” the minister said.

Police confirmed the crash occurred on Defense land. The ADF’s Townsville Field Training Area is located off the Hervey Range Road, approximately 45 km from the regional city centre.

Queensland premier David Crisafulli said on Thursday members of the state’s parliament were thinking of everyone involved.

“We have great respect for our service as men and women, for what they do to keep us safe, for the sacrifices they make. Our defense personnel are important to our state and crucial to the Townsville community,” the Prime Minister said.
