A massive fire broke out near Forest Hill Station in London and emergency services attended the scene.
London Fire Brigade said: “15 fire engines and around 100 firefighters were called to a fire at a property in Perry Vale, Forest Hill. The fire is affecting a ground floor shop, above which there are flats. People in the local area are advised to keep windows and doors closed due to the spread of smoke.
“A 25-metre cordon is currently in place and members of the public are advised to avoid the area at this time. Significant traffic disruptions can be expected in the Fores Hill area. The Brigade received the first of 49 calls at 1827 and Control Officers mobilized crews from Forest Hill, Lewisham, Beckenham, West Norwood and surrounding fire stations to the scene. A 32-metre spiral staircase is also on standby and is being used as a water tower. to extinguish from above. “The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.”
