An XL Bully was shot dead by armed police in Sheffield after the dog broke loose and attacked a woman.
Officers were called to reports that an XL Bully had bitten a woman on the arm and was acting aggressively towards a second person walking her dog.
Police body camera footage from Dec. 7, 2024, shows officers arriving at the scene, a residential road in Hillsborough, before loading a shotgun and firing three shots at the animal.
Sophie Zaherali, 31, of Dykes Hall Road, was found guilty of owning a dog that was dangerously out of control; no injuries.
Zaherali’s sentence will be heard on December 16.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “The decision to shoot a dog is one that is never taken lightly by our officers. “They are highly trained and carry out risk assessments and observe the tactics and situation presented to them.
“Our goal will always be to safely contain any animal, but the safety of the community and officers is always our priority.”
