Kochi Blue Spikers Win Kerala Derby, Pick 3-1 Win Over Calicut Heroes

Kochi Blue Spikers registered a motivating 15-13, 9-15, 15-8, 15-13 win over Calicut Heroes in the RR Kabel Prime Volleyball League powered by Scapia at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday. Mouhsin Pa was named Player of the Match.

Kochi started strong with blocker Jasjodh Singh winning the opening point. Erin Varghese’s super serve helped Kochi take an early lead despite constant pressure from Calicut’s Ashok Bishnoi.

Calicut captain and setter Mohan Ukkrapandian kept the game in the central zone, stopping Shameem Kochi’s attacks. Despite Calicut’s struggle, Hemanth’s super dunk helped Kochi take the first set.

With smart play from Shameem and Santhosh, Calicut started the counter attack. Setter Moushin ensured that Kochi had plenty of options to keep the pressure on their attack. However, Bishnoi added a lot of ground for the Heroes and helped them open the door for a comeback.

Kochi brought Amrinderpal Singh back into the field to stop Calicut’s attacks. However, Bishnoi managed to find a lead and earn a super point for his team and Calicut leveled the game.

Jasjodh’s clever play and Erin’s consistent attacks increased the pressure on Calicut. Calicut libero Mukesh impressed with his defensive skills but Amal managed to aim his shots well and Kochi took the lead once again.

Abdul Raheem led the fight for Calicut as the heroes worked hard to take the game to the fifth set. However, Amal and Erin won two consecutive super points to enable Kochi to close the gap in the fourth set. Hemanth’s all-round game put pressure on Calicut and the Spikers registered an inspiring win.
