President Donald Trump reacted Sunday night to global “No Kings Day” protesters who filled streets around the world the day before, saying he was not a king and was “working his ass off to make our country great.”

Trump made the comments to reporters before exiting Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews when asked about the No Kings demonstrations over the weekend.

Asked about the protests, Trump called them a “joke.”

“I looked at the people. They don’t represent this country, and I looked at all the new signs that were paid for. I think they were paid for by Soros and other radical left lunatics,” the president said. “Apparently it was worth looking into. The demonstrations were very small, very ineffective, and people were stunned. When you look at these people, they do not represent the people of our country.”

He also emphasized that he is not a royal.

“I am not a king,” he said. “I’m working my ass off to make our country great. That’s all. I’m definitely not a king.”

His comments came a day after large crowds gathered in cities including New York, Washington D.C. and London for the second “No to Kings” protest targeting the Trump administration since June.

Despite concerns that the marches could turn violent, no incidents or arrests were reported at the afternoon rallies due to the ongoing government shutdown.

Republicans argued that the protests were intended to distract from the ongoing fight over government funding.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) told FOX Business he hoped the Democratic leaders in attendance would be more open to the GOP plan after the demonstrations, but he didn’t sound optimistic.

No arrests were reported in Washington, although some protesters briefly took to the streets, officials said.
