The Central Bureau of Investigation, which is probing the alleged NEET-UG paper leak, conducted searches at the main office of Renukai Classes in Chemistry (RCC) in Latur, Maharashtra, on Sunday, May 17, 2026, sources said.

CBI officials said the search at the RCC in the city’s Shivnagar area began in the afternoon and continued till late in the evening.

The central agency had questioned RCC founder Shivraj Motegaonkar for nearly eight hours at his residence in the same area on Friday, May 15, 2026.

Sources said the CBI suspects that some doctors in Latur had purchased the “leaked” NEET exam paper.

A CBI team has been camping in Latur for the last four days.

The federal agency registered an FIR and formed teams to investigate the alleged paper leak, which led to the cancellation of the exam held on May 3.

The National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) was conducted in 551 cities of India and 14 overseas centres.

Around 23 lakh candidates have registered for the exam conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency) across the country.

According to NTA, information about the malpractice allegations came on the evening of May 7, four days after the exam was held. The inputs were forwarded to central agencies the next morning for “independent verification and necessary action”, it said.

The CBI has so far arrested many people from Maharashtra in connection with the case. Pune-based Biology lecturer Manisha Gurunath, who was part of the paper preparation committee of the National Testing Agency (NTA), arrested Mandhare after interrogating her at its headquarters in Delhi on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
