Thamma vs Ek Deewane ki Deewaniyat: Budget analysis
According to various media reports, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma is being mounted on a very large scale. The upcoming MHCU is reportedly made on a budget of Rs 145 Million, split into a production cost of Rs 120 Crore and Rs 25 Million in print and advertising.
On the other hand, Harshvardhan and Sonam’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has been made on 20% of Thamma. Yes, the biggest plus point for Deewaniyat is the controlled cost and it is reported to be only Rs 20 million. A few sources even quoted between Rs 40-50 crore. But it is still much lower compared to Thamma.
Thamma vs Ek Deewane ki Deewaniyat: Number of screens
Thamma is Ayushmann Khurrana’s largest release. According to various reports, Thamma is releasing in 4,000 screens across India. This includes 10,595 shows in India (Hindi version: 10,184 2D shows, 103 IMAX 2D, 101 4DX shows; Telugu version: 207 shows).
As for Thamma’s distributor Deewaniyat, PVR Inox tried to push the exhibitors to allocate more screens to Ayushmann’s film. There were several reports stating that distributors’ demands for Thamma’s show numbers in Mumbai multiplexes were quite aggressive, for example, 33 shows in a 10-screen multiplex, 30 shows in a 9-screen multiplex, etc. as they wish. This leads to blocking the screen count of Deewaniyat. There is no official data on the screens on which Harshvardhan’s film is being shown but it is lower than Thamma and that is a big disadvantage for them in this clash.
