Aaron Rodgers asks Steelers tackle to ease up on physical celebrations: ‘I’m 41’

Aaron Rodgers went viral with some masterful touchdown passes against the Pittsburgh Steelers last Thursday, but the biggest clip circulating was after a crucial fourth-quarter touchdown pass.
Rodgers was celebrating Pat Freiermuth’s six-touchdown, 68-yard catch that gave Pittsburgh a late lead over the Cincinnati Bengals, but the moment went awry when offensive tackle Broderick Jones tried to join Rodgers. Jones jumped on top of Rodgers and they both fell to the grass.
Rodgers was outraged and gave a clear answer as to why on Wednesday.

“What you don’t see in the video is him coming up to me right after the shot and shaking me,” Rodgers said of Jones. “I texted him and said, ‘Hey, I love your energy, I love everything you’re about. But at the same time, I’m 41. You can’t mess with me out there.'”
Fair enough, Aaron.

But the celebration didn’t last long for the Steelers, as Joe Flacco threw a celebration party in the Bengals’ first home game after being traded by the Cleveland Browns.
Flacco capped off his big night with a game-winning move in a 33-31 win over his AFC North rival.
Rodgers threw for 249 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions in the loss. And Jones deserved to celebrate, considering Rodgers wasn’t sacked even once despite the loss.
While Rodgers doesn’t want Jones to tackle him again, the 6-foot-1, 311-pound tackle isn’t ruling out the possibility of that ever happening again.

“It’s just the energy that he brings and the energy that I bring,” he told reporters Tuesday. “He told me, ‘Don’t lose the fire,’ and I told him the same. We’ll see after he scores another goal on Sunday. I can compete with him again.”
It will be a special Sunday for Rodgers, who will face his former Green Bay Packers for the first time since leaving for the New York Jets two seasons ago. It’s obvious that Rodgers has a storied history with the team that took him 24th overall in the 2005 NFL Draft.
He commented on the confrontation with the Packers, saying he “doesn’t have any animosity towards the organization.”
“I wish things had been better in our last year there, but I still have a great relationship with a lot of the people in that organization and this is not a revenge game for me.” he told ESPN. “I’m excited to see some of these guys and be on ‘Sunday Night Football’ again.”

As the prime time lights shine on Acrisure Stadium on Sunday night, Rodgers may not view it as a revenge game, but he’s certainly hoping to score plenty of goals against his former team.
He just hopes to stay upright after he throws them away.
