Indian national working as staff nurse jailed for molesting male visitor at Singapore hospital

Elipe Siva Nagu, 34, harassed a male visitor to Raffles Hospital in June, claiming he wanted to “disinfect” the victim, The Straits Times reported.
She was suspended from her nursing duties immediately following the crime.
The court heard the crime caused the victim to have flashbacks about the incident.
Details about the victim, including his age, were redacted from court documents.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Eugene Phua said the victim was at the hospital on North Bridge Road on June 18 to visit his grandfather, who was admitted there. Around 7:30 p.m., the victim entered a patient’s restroom and peered inside while Elipe was using it. DPP Phua said Elipe put soap on the victim’s hand and harassed her under the pretext of “disinfecting” her.
The court heard the startled victim did not move because he was in shock.
The victim later returned to his grandfather’s bedside after his ordeal.
Court documents did not reveal what happened next, but the case was reported on June 21.
Elipe was arrested two days later.
On Friday, the court sentenced Elipe to one year and two months in prison and two canings.
