North Korea Denounces US Capture Of Maduro As Serious Encroachment Of Sovereignty

seoul : North Korea condemned the US capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Sunday as a “serious encroachment on sovereignty”, state media said.
Pyongyang’s foreign ministry “strongly condemns the US hegemony-seeking action in Venezuela,” a ministry spokesman said in a statement carried by the official KCNA.
“The incident is yet another example that clearly reaffirms the rogue and ruthless nature of the United States,” they added.
After being captured and taken to the United States, Maduro and his wife were flown by helicopter to New York, where they faced drug trafficking and weapons charges.
They were seized by US special forces during pre-dawn airstrikes on Saturday that hit areas in and around the Venezuelan capital Caracas.
The raid represents a nightmare scenario for North Korea’s leadership, which has long accused Washington of trying to remove it from power.
Pyongyang has for decades argued that its nuclear and missile programs serve as a deterrent against Washington’s alleged regime change efforts.
And he was a vocal supporter of Maduro’s socialist regime in Caracas.
Pyongyang called his dismissal a “deliberate violation of the UN Charter and international laws that consider sovereignty, non-interference and respect for territorial integrity as their fundamental aims.”
He called for “necessary voices of protest and condemnation against the United States’ habit of violating the sovereignty of other countries.”
