Dodgers tie World Series 1-1 behind Yamamoto’s complete game victory

The Los Angeles Dodgers tied the series at one game by beating the Toronto Blue Jays 5-1 in Game 2 of the World Series on Saturday night. Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched a one-run complete game in a historic outing for Los Angeles.
But all eyes were on Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani at Rogers Center after he was booed and jeered by the crowd in Game 1.

During the Blue Jays’ stunning 11-4 victory on Friday, the crowd chanted “We don’t need him!” shouted the slogan. He’s referring to Ohtani rejecting a recruiting offer from the Blue Jays when he joins the Dodgers in the winter of 2023.
Ohtani didn’t get a hit until Saturday’s eighth inning, but it was a big hit because it helped the Dodgers extend their lead from 3-1 to 5-1.

Ohtani was seen celebrating after the attack.
The score remained unchanged as Ohtani’s Japanese teammate Yoshinobu Yamamoto won the game for the second consecutive time. This was the first World Series complete game since Johnny Cueto in 2015. This was the first time a pitcher had pitched a complete game in consecutive postseason appearances since Curt Schilling in 2001.
