As part of the ongoing Police Commemoration Day, open houses were organized by Anantapur, Kurnool and Nandyal police on Monday to create awareness among school children about the weapons and equipment used by the police in law enforcement.
Anantapur Superintendent of Police (SP) P. Jagadeesh, who inaugurated the open house at the district police headquarters, said that students should have knowledge about the weapons and equipment used by the police force. Weapons and equipment were displayed for schoolchildren and visitors.
Displaying the weapons and explaining their use, Mr. Jagadeesh said that they have initiated various programs for the welfare of martyred police personnel. He added that the ministry will carry out various service programs throughout the district during the commemoration week, which will last until October 31.
“Think of the police as your family and approach them for any help or solution of problems. We are here to serve you,” the SP said. Weapons on display included .22 rifles, .303 rifles, AK 47s, 12-bore pump-action axis gun, drone cameras, body wear cameras and Vajra tools.
Meanwhile, in Kurnool, SP Vikrant Patil visited the open ceremony held at the District Police Station Parade. He said that raising awareness among students about the functioning of the police will help them acquire the habit of social service. Students can also learn about the challenges faced by the police in their daily activities, the SP added.
In the open area organized by the Nandyal police, the regional police’s detection dog Honey attracted the attention of the children. Honey showed off her explosives detection skills after ceremoniously greeting SP Suneel Sheoran. The students were also told about the services of search dogs in investigating murder and theft cases.
Meanwhile, Allagadda Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) K. Pramod organized a massive blood donation camp in which the DSP and 27 other police personnel donated blood.
