TMC Hails SC Order To Restart 100-Day Job Scheme In West Bengal

Kolkata: The Supreme Court’s order on Monday to the Center to restart the 100-day job scheme in West Bengal comes as a shot in the arm for the Trinamul Congress ahead of the Assembly Elections next year. Welcoming the SC verdict, TMC harshly criticized the BJP for not releasing funds in the last three years.
The statement said: “The Supreme Court’s clear and unambiguous judgment marks the end of the unjust and politically motivated financial blockade. By withholding MGNREGA funds for over three years, the @narendramodi Government at the Center has deprived Bengal’s rural poor of their livelihood, an act that defies both morality and constitutional propriety.”
According to TMC, “It was the politics of punishment driven by the Bangla-Birodhi Zamindari mentality that tried to starve Bengal into submission. The court said what Bengal has said all along, you can control, you can question, but you cannot strangle people’s livelihood in the name of surveillance. The court upheld the decision of the Calcutta High Court in its entirety and upheld the decision of Bengal. We stand both legal and fair.”
The statement added: “Under the determined leadership of Smt. @MamataOfficial and the tireless advocacy of Shri @abhishekaitc, this issue has become a fight for the constitutional rights of our people. The verdict is a victory for justice and a defeat for the politics of hatred and discrimination. The Center must now comply without delay and unleash the rightful rights of those whom Bengal has wronged.”
