Easyjet flight forced to make emergency landing in UK city | UK | News

A flight from Copenhagen to Manchester was forced to make an emergency landing at Newcastle Airport following a medical emergency. EasyJet’s flight EZY2238, which departed from the Danish capital at around 22:00 local time on 27 October, was planned to arrive in Manchester at 22:45 UK time. But before reaching its destination, the plane had to make an unscheduled stop in Newcastle after a passenger was dropped off “requiring urgent medical attention”.

According to reports, paramedics were on hand when the jet landed in Newcastle and the flight continued its journey after the passenger in question was handed over to emergency services. A spokesperson for the budget airline said: “Flight EZY2238 from Copenhagen to Manchester on 27 October was diverted to Newcastle due to a customer on board requiring urgent medical attention.”

“The customer was met by medical services on arrival and the flight continued to Manchester,” they continued.

“The safety and well-being of our customers is always easyJet’s top priority.”

Although relatively rare, emergency landings are not uncommon for airlines operating in the UK; Another easyJet flight was forced to make an unscheduled stop last month in response to a “disturbing” passenger.

The plane, which was heading from Manchester to Corfu, stopped in Milan and videos showed a man being “dragged” off the plane following alleged “irregular behaviour”.

Two men on a Ryanair flight between Milan and London forced their planes to make a sudden landing in Paris in late September after allegedly eating their passports.

“Suddenly the whole mood changed,” an anonymous source told the Daily Star. “Nobody on the ship knew what was going on. These people were acting strange.”

Passengers also described the ordeal as “very strange” and “the scariest 15 minutes of my life”, with French authorities eventually boarding the plane and making arrests before allowing the journey to continue as planned.
