Shilo Sanders doubles down on ‘make me a sandwich’ insult to female Browns reporter

Shilo Sanders isn’t doing his brother Shedeur any favors with his latest insults toward Cleveland Browns women’s reporter Mary Kay Cabot.
In case you missed it, Shilo made what many called a misogynistic comment on an Instagram video in which Cabot called for the Browns to make Deshaun Watson QB1 instead of Shedeur. “I think they should announce it,” said Cabot, who has followed the Browns since 1988. [Watson] Move to QB1 ASAP and let the first-team offense start to boil.” He added: “There’s no time to waste.”
In response, Shilo said, “Go make a sandwich, Mary.”

Rightfully so, the comment generated a lot of buzz, which I think not only does Shedeur a disservice, but also shows how many of his supporters are taking action when it comes to criticism. There’s no better example than Shilo doubling down on his comments while streaming on Twitch when discussing the controversy he started.
“This is for Mary Kay,” Shilo began to grumble. “If you’re going to be a reporter, then report the facts. Whenever you have an opinion, and your opinion is always something hateful to Sheduer, then there seems to be something weird going on. It’s like you have an agenda going on.”

To me, Shilo said the quiet part out loud. Like many other fans and even those in the media, he claims that any criticism of Shedeur is “hateful” and has some sort of malicious “agenda” behind it. When he says “agenda,” it’s hard for me not to assume he’s not talking about racism because that’s been the claim since Shedeur went down in the 2025 NFL Draft.
“It’s about the fact that sometimes the color of the skin at the position can be questioned,” ESPN’s Ryan Clark said before the draft.
Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson said the NFL “wanted to set an example.” [Shedeur]” he claims he was told by a source that “the NFL…told others.” [teams] Don’t draft him.”
SHILO SANDERS COMMENTED ‘SANDWICH’ TO THE WOMAN UNDER THE VIDEO CRITICISM OF SISTER SHEDEUR
Skip Bayless claimed that “the whole thing reeks of racist undertones” when it comes to Shedeur falling to the fifth round in the Draft and that “too many white people are in charge in this league.”
Hell, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, who likes to say weird, untrue things and put his foot in his mouth, claimed Shedeur was blacklisted similarly to Colin Kaepernick, telling
Cam Newton, former NFL MVP and frequent guest host on ESPN’s First Take, made the outrageous claim that the Browns head coach (at the time) sabotaged Shedeur. “I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: I don’t think Kevin Stefanski wants Shedeur Sanders to succeed in Cleveland,” Newton said. he said.

This list goes on and on, but you have to get the gist.. Shedeur’s brother, many in the media, and countless fans online want the sports world to believe that the NFL, some in the media, and the coaches are conspiring against Shedeur, hence the “agenda.” They also claim that criticism is mostly “hateful”. This is weak, unfounded and illogical.
Fans fare even worse online. That’s why I like to compare Shedeur Sanders fans to Angel Reese fans. They claim, or at least imply, that any criticism of any player has some kind of racist, micro-aggressive tone. In my opinion, they want the sports world to believe that they are the constant victims of a fundamental bias within an unfair system. I call it nonsense.
What Shilo Sanders is doing is hypocritically telling Cabot to stick to the facts in his reporting while refusing to face the facts.

Here are the cold, hard facts. Of the 42 eligible NFL quarterbacks for the 2025 season, Shedeur Sanders ranked 41st in passer rating. Sanders had more interceptions than touchdowns. He had the fifth-worst QBR since QBR became a statistic in 2026, making him the worst QBR among Browns QBs with at least six starts IN THE HISTORY OF THE FRANCHISE. Sheduer had flashes but overall had a poor performance. His selection to the Pro Bowl was the nail in the coffin of this game, and his addition made a mockery of that accolade.
This season, Shedeur isn’t a candidate for QB1, and that’s blamed on his poor performance in his rookie season. Additionally, such comments and discussions about his family make Shedeur a bigger distraction than he has been in the past.
Shilo continued: “There are a lot of women in this field who take it seriously and take football reporting seriously, who actually do homework, study the game, get the stats right and get the news right. But there’s a lot of emotion in you.” Shilo then completed her ironic emotional breakthrough by saying, “We don’t care what you think is going to happen… For all the women who actually take the time to do research and are real reporters and real journalists, it’s going to make them look bad.”
Shilo will only accept his brother’s praise from the media. Any criticism questions the journalist’s credibility. This is ridiculous, especially considering the facts of Shedeur’s game.
Cabot didn’t take the bait and instead took the high road in response to Shilo’s sandwich comment, saying that she believes she is “an inspiration to a lot of women and young girls that you can go out there and do a good job in a man’s world.”

Cabot further commented on Cleveland sports radio 92.3 The Fan: “And I know there are a lot of women joining the world of football, especially because of some of the things that I’ve been able to do over the years… I’m happy that I’ve been able to help set the tone and open some doors that way, and I know that’s going to continue, and that’s how I feel about it.”
Shilo should do his brother a favor and show some understanding before making further comments that will inevitably make Shedeur more of a distraction and a talking point for the media than he already is. But I wouldn’t trust it.
